Not only are we a social enterprise but we also work hard to trade with as many of our kind as we can – because if you can get great quality at a good price AND have social value, then why wouldn’t you? With Social Enterprise Day round the corner and Social Enterprise UK planning a drive to help us buy from each other I’ve been inspired to explore just how many other great social businesses I trade with.
My Week – I buy Social
The Eastern Curve is a beautiful inner city oasis made up of a garden, cafe and bar and exhibition space and they’re a social enterprise! (I didn’t know this until last week! )
Coality is a #SocEnt offering a wealth of marketing experience. We’re sharing skills and insight. E5 is a #SocEnt and awesome bakery under the arches on London Fields. They do, without doubt the best coffee in London and great bread ( Hackney Wild is to die for ). Coffee and sandwich on their bread for lunch sets you up for a victorious day.
Wednesday 29th – meeting with SkyWay to discuss the up coming launch of their latest Enterprise SkyWay product GROW. Grow is a ” pop up” allotment / trough available for sponsorship and offering employment opportunities for young people at risk. Drop off CRB from for processing.
Skyway is a charity with a Social Enterprise arm. They’ve taken us on to run the PR for their 10 year anniversary on 28th September and we use their super quick CRB processing service becuase it’s half the price and twice the speed of the service we were using ( no joke! ). We also refer to and use their peer mentor recruitment agency.
Calverts – Co op and great ethical printers with solid green credentials. The press is just round the corner and they’ll squeeze work on for you in the morning for same day collection.
Social Enterprise UK – found out more about Social Enterprise Day the focus this year is to help Social Enterprise buy from each other. Very excited about working with sister company and social enterprise Poached Creative on a creative marketing campaign ( we share an office and co run training courses )
Visited the BBBC and was blown away by the work they do. They can print on canvas bags and badges with decent runs at bang on competitive prices. The money funds their creative training program working with people with physical and learning disabilities. Really creative bunch – great to of found and excuse to use them.
Saturday 1st September – swimming @ London Field’s Lido
London Fields Lido is a heated outdoor lido open all year round. It’s run by GLL one of London’s largest #SocEnt . WHO KNEW!
I genuinely had no idea I was working with so many social enterprises until I started to look. Maybe we don’t shout loud enough as a sector? With a Social Enterprise Day on the way let’s do something about that!
Really thrilled to be able to name check and recommend all the businesses mentioned as providing excellent services at a fair price.
